Why Choose Happy Henna Studio?
Fresh & Natural Henna
I use fresh, quality ingredients sourced from locally owned small businesses and organic products whenever possible. Choose Between Traditional Henna & Jagua.
🌿 Traditional Henna creates a beautiful orange-to-deep brown stain that gradually darkens. For the best results, avoid water and keep the henna area dry for the first 12–24 hours.
💙 Jagua Henna creates a blue-black to dark blue stain that looks more like a natural tattoo. Avoid water and keep the area dry for the first 12–24 hours for the best results.
Not sure which one is right for you? I’m happy to help you choose based on the look you want and your occasion.
Your Safety First
Your satisfaction and safety are my top priority. I’m transparent about what I use and always strive to keep it natural.

The Medium
Henna vs. Jagua
Two natural dyes, worlds apart in color and cure time — here’s how to choose.
What is Henna?
Henna comes from the plant Lawsonia Inermis, a shrub native to very hot, dry regions of South Asia and North Africa. It is widely known for its natural dye, cooling effect, and healing properties.
Natural henna paste is made with just four simple ingredients: quality henna powder, sugar, cosmetic-grade essential oil, and a binding liquid such as water or lemon juice.
Once the paste is removed, the stain appears pumpkin orange at first and gradually deepens to a rich dark reddish brown over the course of 48 hours, based on your body heat.
Keep the henna paste on for as long as possible. In the first 48 hours, avoid washing the henna with water, soap, or scrubbing the area.
What is Jagua?
Jagua is a natural ink derived from the fruit of Genipa Americana, found in the Amazon Rainforest and other parts of South America. Like henna, it is valued for its natural dye and skin-friendly properties, and is also used as an insect repellent.
Jagua stains develop into a bluish-black color within 6–12 hours after the gel is removed, resembling a tattoo-like tone.
Jagua is often mistaken for “black henna”; however, black henna contains harmful chemicals and is not safe to use on the skin. Jagua is natural and safe to use on most skin types.
Jagua is a $10 upcharge added to any service — ask about it when booking.
